Abdullah loses both legs to a mine while grazing goats

What happened

Abdullah lost both legs to a landmine in June 2022 while taking goats to graze on his land in al-Shaqb. He told researchers that the injury prevented him from returning to his previous work as a driver and in other jobs.

Human Rights Watch documented the incident in its al-Shaqb investigation, citing residents who said Houthi forces planted mines in and around homes and farms. Attribution rests on residents’ accounts of mining in the area, not identification of the person who laid this particular device.
